  1. •A Generation Tariff - A significant payment for every kWh generated, which is paid out regardless of the use whether the electricity is consumed at source, sold or exported for extra revenues.


  1. •An Export Tariff - An additional payment for every kWh exported to the local electricity network, at a lower rate to the generation tariff.


And of course there is also the benefit of a reduced electricity bill; the combination of all three serves to completely transform the business case for renewable energy technologies.

Solar PV Panels (Photo-Voltaics)

These can be fitted to any roof and provide significant amounts of ‘free’ electricity. Since Feed-In Tariffs were introduced some UK buildings fitted with solar panels are producing all of the energy needed to run their building and making a profit from the rest by feeding it back into the grid. Solar has the advantage over wind or hydro in that any location in the UK is suitable. It is a myth that they only work in the south or when the sun is out.
